Fun in the Sun Amazon Haul
My top 2 bright sides of quarantine 2020, finding a silver lining during these stay at home days. It has not been easy but there really are some positive things to focus on.
On a Sunday night in March we started to hear things about a possible government shutdown. It seemed unreal but for some reason it also felt like a real possibility. The very next day we received word that our daughter’s April 10th wedding venue cancelled.
That week became a blur of dreamlike (or more like what the heck is going on…) existence combined with some of the most beautiful memories and moments we will treasure forever. We quickly packed up, rented a beautiful AirBNB in Franklin, TN and held an absolutely perfectly imperfect wedding for our daughter and our new son-in-law.
All the details fell into place.

Devastating orders for teens.
You have to stay home with your parents and cannot see your friends. On top of that, what started as a two week order now feels indefinite. School is cancelled. Youth group is cancelled. Theater rehearsals are cancelled. Sports are cancelled.

What do we do as parents? We are also facing uncertainties and a situation so foreign we are all a little stunned.
Week after week I sat with my mom in the pews, yes actual church pews, they had cushions but were old fashioned straight backed wooden pews. I followed along and took my mom and our church community at their word. This is what we did. This is how we connected with God.
That was my life and experience throughout most of the 70’s and 80’s until, January 3, 1989 sitting in yet another church, in more hard, wooden straight backed pews but this time something was different. Something changed and I started to believe for myself in the God I had only experienced from the outside. Something shifted inside me and I started my personal spiritual journey.
It was exciting, full of promise but mostly full of hope for tomorrow. Always hope for tomorrow even when my todays weren't or aren't that great.
My connection with God over the last 31 years has given me that continual hope for which I am so grateful.
What this personal spiritual journey has not given me is wealth, or 100% health, or an easy, burden free life.

I am a mom, so I can admit, we can be hard to buy for sometimes. Especially on a budget, which most of the time, our sweet kids no matter what their ages, are on a budget when shopping for Christmas gifts right? Honestly I am too! I don't know anyone who isn't!
I decided to help by giving you a few ideas mom will love and may not already have on hand, or if she does have some of these, she may need an upgrade (I especially like the beautiful insulated French Coffee press - hint hint family...)
