June is here! Which means the official start of summer! 

Summer 2020 is going to look a lot different than we expected but I think we are all looking forward to getting out of the house and having a little fun in the sun somewhere.

My motto is if we all make little changes it ads up to big change! Did you know plastic straws are one of the worst (top 10 globally!) contributors to plastic marine debris? They cannot be easily recycled and do not biodegrade.

2. Small, Purse Size Deoderants

These on the go deodorant sticks (or deodorant balls) are cute and can easily fit in your purse.

I don’t know about you but I am always conscious of how the heat makes me sweat. No one likes to feel like that or think “is that me I smell?”

Heat  + make up = a hot mess. 

A good setting spray can help with that for sure. I spent most of my life in Florida where it is basically summer all the time and the humidity can be stifling. It’s tropical and beautiful but a disaster for your makeup. That’s where I was introduced to setting spray!

When I moved to Northern Virginia everyone warned me about the humid summers, they were right! I still need my setting spray even in Virginia.

My guess is summers are hot and humid for a lot of us.

4. CeraVe Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30

Do you use SPF on your face every day?

You should! To protect your skin from aging and also from skin cancer! According to Skincancer.org by the age of 70, 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer. I know I have already had a skin cancer scare myself and know friends who have as well.

Protect yourself using daily products with SPF.  30 SPF or higher per dermatologist recommendation,  if you will be outside.

5. Suntan Oil with Bronzer & SPF 30

This is something else I learned from being a fair-skinned girl living in Florida. Get yourself a bronzing tanning oil that has strong SPF! You will avoid burns, you will actually tan, and help your tan along quickly.

This is my favorite one of all time and I have tried a LOT of brands.

6. A Good Book - When Life Gives you Lululemons

If you are going to be at the beach, by your pool or sitting in your back yard catching some rays a good book is a must!

7. A Cute Cooler Bag

A cute cooler bag is important every summer but especially this summer when we don’t really know what is open, what isn’t and may need to grab and go right?

Everyone needs a good picnic/beach blanket to use in a shady spot at the park or on the beach.

9. Sunglasses with readers (hello #midlife)

Under 40 friends, your day is coming but if you don’t need glasses with readers in them now make sure you have a good pair of regular sunglasses.

Last but certainly not least hand sanitizers for on the go.

These are 75% alcohol and have clips to easily hang on your purse strap or beach bag. Keep cleaning those hands and stay healthy friends. We want to keep opening up our communities!

If soap and water are not readily available hand sanitizer is a good option (with 60% or higher alcohol ratio). For extra protection, use hand sanitizer after washing with soap and water.
