What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty / Book Review

This is a great summer read! Liane Moriarty has crafted an engaging story that any woman can relate to. If you are a mom, never been a mom, married, never been married, young, old, divorced, widowed... What Alice Forgot includes strong female characters in varying stages and ages of life and somehow in the midst of this smooth, easy read we really get to know them all.
The title infers memory loss and the book summary tells you
Alice has forgotten the last 10 years of her life. Without giving away too much, this is the story of her figuring things out at 39 while thinking and feeling like she is a 29 year old newlywed with one newborn.
Alice has absolutely no memory of the years in between! Set in Sydney, Australia the life these characters live are much like the lives we live here in America. With love, loss, family, friends and all the complicated feelings and situations that arise. This book will make you laugh, gasp, cry and reflect on what is important in life. It will make you consider who you have become and who you want to be all while being a light, enjoyable read. I will say there is an element to the book that took me a while to figure out and flow with. There are two characters in the book who write letters. The introduction of the letter writing was a bit abrupt to me but I will say the letters did add a depth to the story that wouldn’t have been there otherwise. Overall, I highly recommend What Alice Forgot. I ended it with tears, a full heart and a desire to make sure I am not too busy, among other things a suburban stay at home mom can relate to (after you read it you will know what I mean...) A bonus feature at the end of the book was 15 discussion questions for a book club, to discuss with a friend or just to think about yourself. I really like this! Just in case your copy does not have them included here is a link to the 15 questions. Personally, I am not a member of a book club however, in my midlife mode and my obsession with having a book going at all times, I may just have to join or start one! Anyone interested? I hear there's usually wine. Let me know what you think if you read What Alice Forgot! I’d love to hear your thoughts. SOS Quick Content Review

Great review! I especially like the quick content review portion. I always worry when I write book reviews bc sometimes even books I love end up having some inappropriate or questionable content. Then I feel like I should warn people about it. Anyway, I read this book three or four years ago & I really liked it. I’m glad you liked it too. I’ve always wanted to join a book club (I’ve only ever done online book clubs). If you ever decide to start one, please sign me up! :)
