Statistics paint a picture, they make something that seems distant hit a little closer to home. I have gathered some statistics about suicide from The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Mental Health America to help bring awareness and understanding that suicide is something that knows no boundaries, it can weave its way into the lives of every person, family, workplace, community, church, softball team, theater group, school, home... These statistics are specific to America:
Globally the World Health Organization reports: Close to 800 000 people die due to suicide every year, which is one person every 40 seconds. Many more attempt suicide. Suicide occurs throughout the lifespan and is the second leading cause of death among 15-29 year olds globally. Did you know 8 out of 10 people considering suicide give some type of sign, indicating their intention? Suicidal Warning Signs
If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts please call for help, talk to a friend, seek out counseling, say something...

Hi I'm HeidiFounder and Author of the SOS Blog. A little bit about me. I love all the brews (coffee, tea, craft beer...) and wine and as much as I love all that I love cake. Crazy for someone who lived with an eating disorder for over 30 years huh? ArchivesCategories
