Disclaimer: I wrote this post prior to becoming a Weebly Affiliate however I am currently a Weebly Affiliate through Share-A-Sale. If you make a purchase from Weebly using links in this post or on #thesosblog I may receive a small commission from qualified purchases.
I startedmy blogging journey in 2014 and I started it with Weebly. A friend of mine used Weebly, it seemed very user friendly and at the time I had no idea what I was doing (I still consider myself somewhat of a newbie 5 years in!). Weebly makes starting a blog and building a website extremely easy. They have a free option and several levels of paid options depending on what you need, desire or can afford. Compare Weebly Pricing Plans to see what they offer. I started with a free site and always recommend beginner bloggers start with a free site.My general rule of thumb is to spend $0.00 nothing (or as little as possible) until
I know I am going to stick with it. As soon as I knew I was in this for a longer haul, that this was something I wanted to continue with I purchased my domain name and paid for services with Weebly.
Through the years I have had many well meaning fellow bloggers and web builders share other options with me. A popular one being Word Press. I even started to switch at one point but after a frustrating experience with choosing a WordPress option that did not prove to be easy to work with (for me anyway). There are two “WordPress” companies out there, they are different and not connected to each other as far as I know. Both are named wordpress.xxx only differentiated by the .com or .org. I stuck with Weebly.
Again this year I considered switching services.
Again, I stuck with Weebly. 3 reasons I stuck with Weebly for #thesosblog: 1. Low stress for me as a writer and the one who is designing and maintaining my own website.
I write, edit and post all my own content at this point.
The goal is to be able to outsource some of these jobs but for now its all me. Therefore, I need an option that allows me to build a beautiful, user friendly site as efficiently and easily as possible. Weebly delivers in this area big time. 2. Apps and Plugins available for Weebly.
I am still learning, after all these years, and only recently started using some really great, affordable (or even free with my Weebly Package) apps / plugins available for Weebly sites to help my site look and feel professional while saving me tons of time.
Apps and plugins for social media grids, sliders, text headers for seo and countless others are available, easy to install and use. So far I have had zero issues with any of the ones I have installed. 3. Only down one time since 2014.
In all the years I have been using Weebly only one time have I ever logged in to find Weebly down due to a technical issue. The issue was fixed extremely quickly.
Do I log in every day? yes! For the last year "ish" I have been working on my blog more consistently and currently I work on my blog almost full time. I log in daily at least 5 days a week. Only being down one time is excellent customer service in my book! I love being confident in Weebly's care of my site and never doubting when I log in to work that my site will be up and running. Is Weebly perfect? No! I have suggestions for improvements which they are always willing to hear, seriously consider and implement for the Weebly user community. Here are a few resources for you as you consider starting your blog and buidling your website:
Will I stick with Weebly forever? I cannot answer that, however for now, I am and feel that it is a great place to start and grow. If you are a new blogger or considering a blog, I highly recommend checking it out! You can do that by following this link:
There are many other good web building services out there. I personally worked with Wix for a few years and it was also extremely user friendly as well.
I hope you find a good fit for you and your blog! Let me know what you use, what works, what doesn't...I would love to hear from you and be able to gain more insight about all the amazing options and companies available. I am all about options!
