What exactly is mindfullness? How do I practice mindfulness?
Does learning about it and applying this in my life mean I am practicing Buddhism or trying to reach a state of Zen? If I am a Christian does practicing mindfulness mean I am doing something contrary to my beliefs?
What does “practicing” mindfulness mean anyway? So many questions! All of which I asked myself when I started learning about mindfulness and applying it to my life. Let’s start with a basic explanation of mindfulness and some of the benefits of applying it to our lives. It's Fall, that time of year where the seasons change. The air gets cooler, the days get shorter, its breezier and things just "feel" different. Even in Florida. It may not be much cooler but change is definitely in the air.
We are in the 4th quarter of the year, these last 3 months usually start off a little slow but quickly begin to pick up speed as the holidays approach and our calendars fill up with party dates, deadlines, decorating, shopping - before we know it is time to start a new year. But wait. We have 3 more months. Let's take a minute. Breathe. Don't rush it. |
